Oh how terrible ! (No wonder I'm f * cked up) A few things I noticed :
- There is no money saved on the making of this DVD. It looks really good.
- Again the youth addressed. Just as Lösch talk (here in The Netherlands he gave a special talk) are increasingly younger children already prepped .
- They hammered enormously on 'family worship ' . If I look at facebook , they spend that night more at fun things instead of family study .
- Nobody was wearing jeans . Mother in sand-colored pants and a skirt (! ) during family study ...?
- The father spoke as Antonio Banderas in Puss in Boots. Haha ! Gave me the giggles .
- Mother was a whiner . Truly a 50's book where mothers always ruin the pleasure of the children with a valuable lesson . ;-)
- The fear of ' Magic' , even when it comes to toys , they point this out very often in literature lately. A few months back there was even a picture in which the WT clearly intended Hermoine of Harry Potter . This is no longer left to the conscience of the parents.- The comparison of that plastic wizard who hold as a temptation by a snake , if it were the fruit that Satan gave to Eve I found disgusting!
- A little boy who thinks that he hurts the feelings of Jehovah by a plastic toy Jehovah, the feelings of guilt came bubbling up again ... Bah !Maybe it is time for a book to go with it?

Alteration in the German Watchtower about spousal physical abuse
by slimboyfat ini noticed that the german edition of the study watchtower for today didn't include the phrase about the husband "hitting" the sister.
instead it just says that he became ferociously angry, which need not imply physical abuse.
i wonder if the german translator altered it off his own back or was instructed, and how other language editions compare.

the dutch version doesn't say hit either. it says 'agressief', wich means 'agressive'... 'he became agressive'...

I have been mentally 'out' since 2007 and made the 'big fade' in 2010. I haven't been to a meeting in almost two years and did my last door in the 'ministry' 2,5 years ago.
I will reach the end of my therapy sessions in a few weeks after a year of therapy for heavy depressions and anxiety attacks. I feel so much better and have a will to live now! The only thing is, that my parents are still dubs and especially around this period they try to get me to come to the Memorial. Bring on the emotional blackmail!! :-( So I'm very nervous and really don't know what to do about this Thursday. I don't want to go, but it is soooo important for them. :-(

Who or what "governs" the teachings of the so-called GOVERNING BODY?
by Terry inif a person walked up to you one day and started telling you what to do, how to do it, and threatening you if you refused, wouldn't you immediately ask them by what authority they had such a right?
wouldn't you want to see a badge?
credentials?

Doh! ;-)
On page 144 of The Finished Mystery they again stated their belief that the now "spirit being" C. T. Russell was directing their work from beyond the grave:
... though Pastor Russell has passed beyond the veil, he is managing every feature of the harvest work.

Exactly, your life in 'on hold'.
When I used to work for one of the carehomes Jah-Jireh in England, there was this one lovely sister who have been a pioneer all her life. She was still single, so only sisters where allowed to help her wash and dress (I thought that was lovely, but SO sad), no brothers. The didn't have kids or grandchildren or friends that were coming to see her. She was completely alone. When I looked at the picture of her in her room, when she was young and pretty sitting on her bike with a ministry bag on her shoulder, it saddened me so so much. She didn't want to go to the meetings anymore at one point because she 'was tired'. I think she passed away be now, but I loved her dearly and she had such a wicked sense of humour. ;-) Just the way I like it. ;-)

I was reading a book and read the following quote:
"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is
that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming
of some magical rose garden over the horizon - instead of
enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today."
~Dale Carnegie~
I think this discribes the JW life. They really 'put off living' sometimes with their rules about the things that gives us joy in life. And they all do it because of 'some magical rose garden over the horizon', the Paradise. They put their lives on hold, because of this life in the future.
Learn to play the piano? 'Oh no, I will have plenty of time to do that in Paradise'
Did you sell your sailing boat? 'Yes, well... I really love it, but I don't have enough time. I will build a huge sailing boat in Paradise and will travel the world'
So did you choose your university yet?'No, I want to be a full time pioneer and spend my time on this earth wisely. I will have enough time to study things in eternity in Paradise'
And do you want children? 'We have decided we are not going to try to have children. We want to spend our time in Jehovah's organisation as Bethelites. I love children though, and will have probably 8 in Paradise'
Would you like to go out with this colleague that is really in to you? 'No I can't. I know I'm 45 and still a virgin, but if I can't marry 'in the Lord' then I will wait and Jehovah will bless me with a husband in Paradise.'
I hope that the people that leave this organisation, don't spend too much time being agry about the past but instead 'enjoy the roses that are blooming outside your windows today'.
